The Breede River Valley is also part of the Cape wine route and also the fruit route, producing the largest amount of fruit in the country.

Bridge Jumping at Gouritz and Bloukrans

One of the most exciting things to do when on vacation is to do some extreme sports activities.


This includes going to the historic bridge over the Gouritz River for some wild bungee jumping and bridge swinging. Here you can also enjoy abseiling, rock climbing and walking trails. This bridge was built in 1892 and the Kiwi Extreme Company launched its bungee jumping off the bridge in 1990. You have to be over the age of 14 to jump off the bridge and every safety precaution is taken, although you will have to sign an indemnity form. Every jump is filmed for you to keep as a memento if the weather is good. Aside from this bridge near to Mossel Bay, the same professional team offers bungee jumping at the highest commercial bridge in the world, the Bloukrans River Bridge. This bridge is located towards the end of the Garden Route, but is officially in the Eastern Cape. It is 216 meters high and 216 meters long but the jump is only 160 meters.
