Perth Activities

Perth is paradise for nature lovers, with plenty of unique experiences to choose from. Just a short ferry ride from Perth is the unspoiled paradise of Rottnest Island.

There are few places on earth more idyllic than the island’s coral-fringed beaches, perfect for diving or snorkeling. While visiting look out for the quokka, a furry little marsupial which is rarely seen anywhere else in Australia.

Many dream about it but few people ever swim with dolphins in their natural environment. In Rockingham, a short drive from Perth, you can do just that. Although they are wild animals, the Rockingham dolphins are very friendly and have enjoyed swimming with tourists for more than 15 years.

The Swan River and local wines are Western Australian icons. Captain Cook Cruises allow you to experience both with their Perth Wine Cruise. Enjoy Swan River views and cheese and premium wines from local vineyards as you travel to some of the districts most acclaimed wineries, including Sandalford Estate and Water’s Edge Winery.

If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, you can’t beat King’s Park. Only a few minutes from the hub of the city, the park is a great place for families looking to relax. Hire a bike and follow the extensive bike trail, or take a free walking tour. While it offers something all year round, King’s Park is best enjoyed in summer when Sunset Cinema presents arthouse and cult films, and local theatre groups perform Shakespeare under the stars.

Perth Restaurants

Burswood Casino, five minutes from the city, offers more than gambling, with restaurants for all tastes. Steak, seafood, and Asian fare are all served in the casino’s nine restaurants, which include an all-you-can-eat-smorgasbord, and the award-winning Windows Restaurant.

Murray and Milligan Streets also feature a wide range of restaurants and cafes. Millioncino offers sophisticated Italian and Mediterranean fare and you can sample local delicacies like camel and kangaroo at The Melbourne Hotel. For a more relaxed vibe try the cafe selection at popular local hangout, Carnegies Bar and Restaurant.
