    Traveling With a Pet?

As you may or may not have heard, Pet Airways is the newest airline and it’s just for pets. Owners scoot over, because the pets have taken to the skies! This new airline, which has just recently completed its first flights in the New York area, is the first and only airline for pets. Instead of seats, there are crates where dogs and cats are secured and attended to by airline staff. Pet owners can relax knowing that their pets aren’t subject to air pressure changes and other perils of having pets in the cargo area. If you want to pamper your pet, buy them a seat on this airline.

    Bing!

Bing, is the latest discount airfare search engine and it operates a lot like FareCaster. It indicates whether flight prices are likely to go up or down and shows you when to buy the cheapest and best flights. Its new release, just a few weeks ago took the travel industry by storm, posing questions from travelers who were wondering if Bing had what it takes to please the masses. According the New York Times, Bing is better than Google and travelers seem to agree. Check it out!

  • How To Find Cheap Airfare

Finding cheap flights might be easier than it was a few years ago, but a lot of people get caught watching great deals on airfare pass them by. Don’t be one of them! There are so many tips and tools to finding cheap travel that if you can implement just a few of them, you might walk away with hundreds of dollars saved.

Find out how to book cheap airfares with FrugalMonkey’s tried and true tips on cheap travel rates.

If you haven’t been Dinged you might want to start. Ding is an online feature from Southwest Airlines that allows you to sign up (for free!) and receive travel emails regarding the best deals on Southwest. It will send you emails when they are having their famous, One Day Only sales, in addition to special discounts on cities you wish to be informed about. It is a great feature for finding special discounts online.

The good news is that Ding isn’t the only one of its kind. Delta and United for example, have similar programs. This means by taking the time to sign up for just a few emails each week, you will be first to know of the week’s best travel deals.

Another great way to save money on travel is by utilizing sites like Orbitz, Expedia and Travelocity. However, we suggest you take these airfare sites one-step further. Sometimes the airfares listed aren’t the cheapest available.

One helpful tool for finding cheap airfares is to use the airlines listed as a starting off point. Go to the specific airlines that pop up after your travel search and search that same flight. You will often turn up even better deals than those listed on sites like Orbitz or Travelocity.

Last but not least, don’t forget easy travel-saving tips like picking flights that fall on the cheapest days of the week. It is always cheaper to travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, so book flights that coordinate with these days if you can. Also, if you can wait until early in the morning or late at night you will often run into cheaper prices online!

  • Travel to See Sporting Events

Sports related travel is increasingly popular, especially now with so many great travel deals available.

If you’re a sports fan or perhaps someone in your family is, consider taking a vacation that centers around experiencing sporting events. When there are popular sporting events in any one area, you can expect that flight prices, hotels and even other expenses like food and car rentals will be more expensive. This is because with the expected influx and increased demand on travel-related amenities, hotels and airlines can get away with charging more. This is one reason to book ahead of time and to not rely on last minute travel deals when you want to see some of the world’s best and most exciting sporting events.

Check out two great sporting events that you can plan fun and exciting family vacations around.

One such sporting event is for our winter sport-loving friends. The Winter Olympic Games held in Vancouver B.C begins in the winter of 2010. This means bobsledding, ski jumping, moguls, speed skating and everyone’s favorite: curling, will be happening live just north of the America’s border. Take your family on a ski vacation to Calgary and then check out the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Or, start with a ski vacation to the northwest followed up by up close and personal live sports at the Games!

Our next best sports-related vacation is for summer sports fan. The 2010 World Cup in South Africa is a great time to experience not only one of the biggest and most widely watched sporting events in the world but to also experience travel to one of the coolest and most diverse countries on the globe. • Great Southwest Flight Deal – Friday Only

If you happen to stumble upon this week’s best flight deal, consider yourself lucky. Today only (beginning at 7:00am and ending at 7:00pm) you can find one way flights on Southwest airlines for as low as $38. Here’s how you do it:

Southwest has an application on their homepage called DING.

It is very helpful for finding last minute travel deals through the airline because the application is designated for last minute flights and for offering one-time deals. You will have to download DING onto your desktop in order to search for flights through the application, but once you have it, it is easy to use and can save you a lot of money on otherwise expensive flights. Here are some helpful flight booking tips to get these great summer deals:

Today, search Southwest for flights from July 7 – Aug 31 and get the major savings. You will have to be lucky enough to find the flight you want on dates that work for your travel plans, but if you do you will enjoy some extremely cheap flight prices. Keep in mind that the initial flight prices don’t include taxes (adding as much as $10 to the flight price), but with prices this low, an extra $10 won’t exactly break the bank.

If you’re looking for a cheap shorter flight during the best part of summer, take a look at Southwest airlines using DING and enjoy some summer special savings.

  • Travel Auction Sites Drop Booking Fees

It seems that every week travel deals are getting better and better. Online booking services, agents, airlines, hotels and even some restaurants are trying everything they can to get people excited about travel. The result for passengers is some of the lowest travel deals and vacation packages in years. The next turn in an effort to increase travel comes from Travelocity and Orbitz. These two popular travel auction sites are dropping their booking fees which can cost customers as much as $5-$12 each time they book. Orbitz and Travelocity follow Expedia who has already foregone booking fees in hopes of roping in more travelers. This means even greater savings for travelers who use these travel auction sites and makes both international and domestic travel deals that much more attractive to people purchasing online.

What’s the next deal in the travel world? We have our eyes peeled and will be the first to let you know.

  • New Travel Site to Find Travel Deals

Propel Media has just launched a new travel site. What makes this new site so unique is that the content is user generated and mirrors what looks much more like a social media platform rather than a site dedicated to travel deals.

What visitors will find on the site is the ability to post travel deals for free and receive updates from other travelers that have come across industry discounts and deals. BestTravelDeals.net is hoping that this will be the first site that provides access to travel deals, sales, promotions and coupons all in one place.

So, the next time you’re trying to book cheap airfares, car rentals and hotels – take a look at BestTravelDeals.net and see if you can find any new travel deals and information from their network of users. We’re interested to see the types of travel deals we’ll come across!

  • A New Travel Option For Pet Owners

Do you do a lot of domestic travel? Do you bring your pets? Are you tired of airlines that require your pets to travel as cargo?

Well, for all you pet loving travelers out there, a new airline just might have the solution. PetAirways, the official airline for pets, is expected to launch this July.

Passengers who travel with airlines find that many airlines require pets to travel as cargo. This consistently put pets under stressful flying situations. Temperature, pressure and long flights put undue stress on pets that occasionally, succumb to psychological and physical damage. With PetAirways, travelers can rest easy knowing that their pet is in a temperature and pressure controlled flying situation with experts in animal care. What makes this possible? Kennel crates instead of seats and animal caretakers instead of flight attendants.

Inaugural flights will cost pet owners around $140 and should hover around $250 each way once the airline is running consistently. It could cost you a lot less then car rental prices for the same distance, or paying cargo fees for flights. It’s worth looking into and we think, a pretty cute idea.

  • New Bing Search Engine Provides Help to Travelers

Microsoft is launching a new search engine called Bing. Bing will not only allow you to search online in a new way, but its affiliated site, Bing Travel, will allow travelers looking for travel deals to see hundreds of airfares and predictions on whether or not those fares will rise or fall. This will be very helpful when trying to book flights and will allow travelers to see where they can save the most when looking for travel deals. Hotel rates will also be included in addition to travel blogs written and edited by some of the foremost leaders in travel writing. The site launches June 3, 2009. We’ll be sure to check it out, give our user review of the site and direct you to what we think are some of Bing Travel’s best features. Stay Tuned!
