Ixtapa Attractions

Good visibility throughout the year attracts diving enthusiasts from around the planet. The reefs and underwater tunnels provide great scenery and divers may encounter spectacular gigantic sea turtles. Many tours are located around the marina. Costs vary depending upon experience, number of people, and equipment needed. Expect $100-$200.

Playa Quieta is a quiet and peaceful beach located across the way from Isla Ixtapa. Many locals claim this beach as a favorite because it is far way from the crazy scenes seen at many of the tourist hotspots. This is a great beach for reading, swimming, and being one with nature. Beachgoers will usually not be bombarded by local vendors and loud music. Venturing to Isla Ixtapa is also a possibility from this beach.

A little known secret is that the golfing in Ixtapa is among the best in Mexico, and for that matter the entire world. There are two excellent and highly rated courses in the Ixtapa region. The Palma Real was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Junior and is as much challenging as it is astonishingly beautiful. The mango and coconut plantation is the ambience as golfers stroll the jungle course adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. This complete golf course includes all the amenities of a golf club and many avid golfers claim it as the best of the best. The Marina Ixtapa Golf Course is a bit easer and great for those who want to hone their skills before embarking upon the aforementioned more difficult course. Be sure to check out Mexican golf courses, including these if you're in Ixtapa.
