Adelaide is a charming city, characterized by extensive parklands and old-world architecture. The city is laid out using a square mile grid pattern, so getting around couldn't be easier. Adelaide features plenty of attractions, restaurants and entertainment. South Australia is known as the "Festival State", and its capital is home to a number of these events including the Fringe Festival, the Come Out Arts Youth Festival and world music event WOMADelaide. Adelaide also provides a great base for exploring the area's surrounds, including the seaside suburbs to the west and the Barossa wine region to the northeast.

Located on Australia's south coast, Adelaide lies 729 km (453 miles) northwest of Melbourne and 1408 km (875 miles) west of Sydney.

Weather
With warm, dry summers and cool winters, Adelaide is a great tourist destination. The temperatures can drop to 15°C (59°F) in July, and hit 29°C (84°F) in the early months of the year. If you don't like rain, avoid traveling in May to August, as the city experiences most of its rainfall during these months.
